SPIT KINK "LONG MOVER"

John Toohill is a name that carries a bit of weight around here. He’d be the first to deflect that kind of praise so I'll try to go easy on the flattery, but come on. This guy has been doing it since you were in diapers and beyond that, he’s managed to achieve a genuine level of self-made success. John’s focus has always been on breaking even and recycling funds for an endless stream of limited edition physical releases. It’s the kind of hyper-ambitious anti-greedy activity that gets my blood pumping - he’s an inspiration!

Ok ok - we’re here to talk about Spit Kink, John’s side-project with his partner Lindsay Tripp. Together they combine to sound like a sugar rush run through an industrial grade meat grinder. Cranked distorted synths take on the sound of a delirious brass ensemble. Pulsing drum machines push the pace relentlessly like 140,000 ants crowd surfing your body down a freeway at 108 miles an hour. The crunchiest bass guitar of all time is like a braided wire that just barely holds it all together. Then, floating over all this madness are John’s vocals which call to mind a sultry version of Fred Schneider.

It’s hard to know where to start with the John Toohill catalog, so why not start here! Then head over to Swimming Faith Records and binge the rest.
