THE FLOW "Snow"

The Flow’s latest music-video-short-film opens with an old adage: “They say luck is when preparation meets opportunity”. If there’s one thing you get the sense for when exploring his music, this guy has put in the work to hone his craft. Our track of the week, “Snow,” fits into a much broader context than the average single release. It’s the centerpiece in a work that emphasizes mental and spiritual strength through proverbs, visuals and of course, the savvy flow that defines his namesake.

Even still, there's a shadow of dread and anxiety hanging over the piece which becomes clearer as it evolves. I especially liked a moment when the song is interrupted when The Flow senses something is wrong and must escape from one location to another. It speaks to a larger element of what he represents: an artist that’s battling to find his path and to fulfill his potential. That’s not easy to do in a market like Buffalo (although it's definitely gotten easier, credit to Griselda) and it’s an obstacle noted by the song’s refrain: “I respect the grind that you got it out the mud, only thing I gotta say is we made it out the snow.”

It's one of the things I appreciate most about The Flow, he makes an effort to highlight and support the community here by lifting it up inside of the work he’s doing. Whether he’s repping the I’m Livin B brand or hanging around outside The Ralph, he’s made Buffalo an integral part of his persona.
